Our Yunnan Black Tea (Dian Hong Jin Hao 滇红金毫) comes from the South Yunnan organic tea garden located at the altitude around 1,650 m which is well managed ecological subsystem. Tea leaves were harvested in the middle of April and processed in a factory with 50+ years of experience in producing black tea. The tea garden is planted with Changye Bai Hao tea cultivar, which is famous for its long tender tea shoot and a lot of white hair. The tea tree behaves good resistance to disease and pest. Tea brewed from our Yunnan Black Tea has a reddish brown color. The aroma is strong sugary and floral with a slight roasted undertone. The taste is smooth and sweet and the aftertaste is refreshing and clean.

During third century BC, the central area of Yunnan, around present day Kunming, was known as Dian’. The name Dian Hong means Yunnan Black tea. Often Yunnan black teas are referred to as Dian Hong teas. Yunnan black teas vary in their flavor and appearance. Some grades have more golden buds and a very sweet and gentle aroma without astringency. Others make a darker, brown brew that is bright, uplifting and slightly sharp. You may add milk to this tea (a longer steeping time is needed to acquire enough astringency to balance the milk).

To brew Dian Hong (Yunnan black tea), use near boiling water (90-95°C or 194-203°F) and a brewing ratio of about 2-3 grams of tea per 150 ml of water. Steep for 3-5 minutes, and consider multiple infusions as Dian Hong often develops more depth with each subsequent brew.
