Founded in 1940 in Menghai County, the factory began its journey under the name "Fohan Tea Factory", and since 1953 has been called "Menghai Tea Factory". Originally state-owned, the factory was privatized in the 80s, and in 1996 it was completely transferred to private hands.
The full name of the factory is "Menghai Tea Factory, TEATEA Group Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, China". However, in China and beyond, it is better known as Da Yi, a brand symbolizing tradition and high quality tea.
The main products of the factory are pressed and loose puer, which are famous for their excellent quality and are in high demand among collectors and connoisseurs of tea all over the world.
