Christopher Columbus brought this pepper to Europe and then found its way to the Turkish-Syrian border near the city of Aleppo. After harvesting, the chili seeds are removed and allowed to dry slightly before being treated with salt and oil. Since the chili is not completely dried after harvesting, it contains many essential oils. The salt and oil are mixed to preserve and enhance its flavor. The salt also prevents lumps and extends the shelf life of the spice.

Pul Biber tastes pleasantly fruity and at the same time slightly spicy with smoky components.

Pul Biber is a widespread spice in Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Israel. In the Mediterranean region of the Middle East, it is a spice that has replaced salt and pepper. Pul Biber does not overlap with other flavors, but complements them.

You can combine crushed chili with, for example, oregano, thyme, garlic, cumin or coriander.
