RECOMMENDATIONS IN TRADITIONAL MEDICINE
Ivan tea (fireweed) has calming, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, wound-healing, diuretic, choleretic, enveloping, emollient, hemostatic, analgesic, antitumor, detoxifying, hematopoietic, antioxidant, and lactogenic properties.
The calming effect of fireweed is used in the treatment of insomnia, anxiety, various forms of neuroses, and fears. Its anti-inflammatory and enveloping properties are effective in the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases, such as gastritis, peptic ulcers (with increased acidity), enteritis, and enterocolitis.
In folk medicine, fireweed is recommended for headaches, spleen disorders, liver and kidney stones, to improve potency, prevent tooth decay, treat hair loss, food and alcohol poisoning, ear, throat, and nose inflammations, to restore strength during exhaustion, and to normalize blood pressure.
Externally, the decoction is used to gargle the throat and mouth for sore throats and inflammatory conditions, and to wash ulcers and wounds that are slow to heal. Dry, powdered herbs can be used to promote wound healing (as a dusting powder). As a pain reliever, poultices are used for bruises and arthralgia.
Directions for preparation and use:
Pour 1 teaspoon (1.5 g) of crushed herbal tea into 1 cup (200 ml) of boiling water, steep for 10-15 minutes, and strain the infusion. Adults take 1 glass (200 ml) of the infusion 3 times daily with meals. Duration of treatment is 1 month. Repeated treatment is possible throughout the year. Consult a doctor before use.
